Online Sites Have a Petition Against Kentucky

Last month a court ruled that 141 online gaming companies had to prove that they were not being accessed in Kentucky or they were ordered to forfeit their domain names to the state.

The online gaming industry now has a petition posted at BoycottKentucky.com protesting the actions by the State of Kentucky.  They are asking Governor Beshear to stop the action against the online playing sites.

This ruling basically means that gaming sites that have nothing inside the jurisdiction of Kentucky could establish the precedent for other businesses to have their domains names seized because their business or practices on the Internet are contrary to those in the jurisdiction.

The BoycottKentucky site is also asking players to boycott certain Kentucky businesses like Churchhill Downs, Twin Spires, Taco Bell, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Lexmark.  People are being asked to call the governor’s office on October 31 and tell them they are against the ruling and why.  The phone number is available on the website. The petition will be sent to the governor and the judge presiding in the case before the next court date.

People who are upset with this case and the precedent it could establish should visit the BoycottKentucky website for more information.
