Phishing Fraudsters

Online casino players, like other internet users spend time online and are subject to hacking and phishing attacks. An internet security company, Symantec, has warned internet players about a series of phishing attacks that are taking place. Most of the players that have been the target of the attacks are playing at casinos operated out of Antigua and the Dutch Antilles.

Symantec, the manufacturer of the Norton security and anti-virus software, has been tracking these attacks. Most have occurred on small countries. Symantec says that these phishers try to lure players from various unnamed casinos to reveal information about themselves. These phishers try to obtain credit card and personal information from the players. They can then use this information in various fraudulent ways or to pilfer their online accounts.

Symantec is warning online gambling players to be alert to these kinds of attacks. Most phishers are usually from different countries than the players are from. They usually use some kind of middlemen to access the online bank accounts and other financial accounts and then have them wire the money to them. A popular way of doing this is to use Western Union money transfers. These are popular with phishers because they are very difficult to trace. Online players should be careful not to be suckered in by these phishers.
